Art Education
My Teaching philosophy focuses on using art to support connection, identity, and self-expression within an inclusive and supportive environment. I believe creativity allows students to explore their personal experiences and emotions while building confidence in their voices. In my classroom, I prioritize accessibility and believe that art should be available to all students as a meaningful creative outlet, regardless of skill level or background. I encourage experimentation and individuality, creating a space that makes students feel comfortable taking creative risks and discovering new ways to communicate through a variety of mediums. I believe students learn best when information is presented through multiple formats, including hands-on demonstrations, visual examples, written instructions, and one-on-one support, allowing for multiple learning styles to be supported. Critique in my classroom is centered on conversation and not judgement, focusing on questions, suggestions, and thoughtful analysis that help students reflect on their work and growth. Overall, I aim to create a classroom where students feel supported, build technical and creative skills, and develop deeper connections with themselves, peers, and the world around them.
